      Laba Festival, the 8th
 day of the lunar December, is a traditional festival of China. In history, it’s a day to commemorate the enlightenment of Buddha. Gradually, it’s become a folk festival.


      

     

   Laba porridge, is a symbolic to celebrate the Laba Festival. And we’ve been have Laba porridge for more than 1,000 years.
    

     Every Laba day, whether the government, temples or people's homes would make Laba porridge. In the Qing Dynasty, the custom of eating Laba porridge prevailed.  

       


      In the North, there’s a saying that the new year is approaching after the Laba Festival, so little kids you’re not need to greedy. That is to say, Laba Festival opens the prelude of the Spring Festival.

 On Laba Festival, poeple in North will have porridge, noodles or make Laba garlic. So if you’re in the North , pls. remember to taste a warm and delicious Laba porridge.
